Howdy friends and fam!
It’s Hunter all the way from Bungoma, Kenya! I hope you all are having a great day and staying safe out there! I’d love to provide you all with some short and sweet updates with how it’s going on over here in Kenya! 🇰🇪
What Have We Been Doing While We’ve Been Out Here in Kenya!?!
Since we’ve arrived in Bungoma, we have had the opportunity to participate in home visitations, street evangelism, kids’ ministry and even giving messages in the main service. So far, I have given two sermons:
1.) The Undeserved Favor of God (based on Luke 15:11-24)
2.) Unity in the Church (based on 1 Corinthians 12:12-30)
It has honestly been such a blessing and we’ve gotten to see God move so far. Not only have we been able to pray with numerous amounts of people, but I’ve also had the opportunity to share the gospel with an individual who didn’t know Jesus and as well as give a bible to the landlord of the place in which we are staying. It’s been such a blessing thus far, and I’m excited to see where God continues to take us.
Cool Things with Hunter and Team Zazu
While in Bungoma, we’ve had some occasions in which we’ve gotten to participate in some cool activities such as:
- Visiting a Bread Making Facility (and getting to see the process of how they make the bread)
- Riding Boda Bodas and Tuk-Tuks (these have been our main form of transportation)
- Visiting a Variety of Stores & Shops (Trevor and Hannah got a guitar)
- Playing Sports with the Locals (Soccer for me, Volleyball for Trevor)
- Visiting Uganda (and getting some bread and currency)
What Has God Been Teaching Me?
In this time, God has been taught me that He is more concerned with who I am than what I can do for Him. God cares more about me being his son and taking on that identity over trying to accomplish a million things. I’m reminded of the story of Mary and Martha, where Jesus desires for us to simply sit at his feet and rest in Him rather than trying to get all of our “to-do’s” done. This is still something I’m learning how to walk and rest in, but I’m growing closer and closer to God each day in it.
Prayer Requests
Please be in prayer for the following things:
- Pray for our health – as all of us have been sick and under the weather, both flu-like symptoms and food poisoning symptoms.
- Pray for our ministries – that we are able to effectively reach those who are lost or far from God while also encouraging those who are weary/stagnant in their faith.
- Pray for eyes to see, ears to hear, and feet to walk in complete obedience to the Spirit – as we want to be Holy Spirit led. We understand that it is not in our own power, effort or agendas that brings people to Christ, but only God’s power through the Spirit.
Thank you and love y’all!
